LONDON TRIALS KERBSIDE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING
Posted on 12th August 2020 at 12:45
Two hundred kerbside electric vehicle chargers are to be installed across Brent and Camden as part of a trial in London.
Each charge point is slotted into the ground with a flat and flush connection and the technology has no permanent footprint or street clutter as the hardware is only visible when a vehicle is charging.
The project has been awarded £3 million in co-funding allowing it to bring kerbside charging to cities where the need to transition to EVs is greatest.
It is hoped that these kerbside chargers will make electric vehicles accessible for more people and get the UK capital one step closer to its aim of becoming a zero carbon borough.
The chargers will provide rates from 2kW to 22kW, with up to 18 chargers able to run in parallel from one electricity network connection.
